London driver fined for breaking Covid-19 rules by travelling to Peak District to take photographs

A driver from London has been fined for breaking coronavirus lockdown restrictions by travelling to the Peak District to take photographs.

Derbyshire Police who were carrying out patrols in the High Peak area over the weekend, seized three cars yesterday (January 31) in the North West of the county.

In a tweet, Derbyshire Roads Policing Unit, said the motorist who had driven from London without insurance to take pictures of the scenery in the Peak District had “another interesting take on #StayHome’”.

Officers also recovered a Polo for driving without insurance.

One social media user commented: "I think covid fines should be increased!!

“With cases, admissions and deaths starting to drop, I'm worried more people will flout lockdown, get complacent again.”

While another said: “You've no insurance, so you drive 150 miles each way for no legal reason, passing numerous fixed and mobile ANPR cams all along the way?

“Forget the car, it's his BRAIN that needs to be in gear."
