Knives and balaclava found inside car abandoned by 'suspicious' man in Derbyshire

Weapons and a face covering were recovered from a Vauxhall in Derbyshire last night after a ‘suspicious’ man abandoned his vehicle.

A member of the public alerted police after they spotted a male ‘acting’ suspiciously in Mackworth on Wednesday, May 5.

He then jumped in his car and abandoned it, after changing his mind according to Derbyshire Roads Policing Unit.

Two knives and a balaclava were recovered from the Vauxhall by officers who also seized the vehicle ‘to prevent further crimes’.

In a message posted to social media, Derbyshire Roads Policing Unit encouraged the ‘suspicious’ man to come forward and contact the force to explain the findings.

The tweet read: “Mackworth. Member of the public spots a male acting suspiciously, jumps in car then abandons it. We attend to find these items inside. Recovered the car to prevent future crimes. Male is welcome to call us to explain. #Seized #Crime”.
