They include thieves, thugs, rapists, woman beaters and child murderers, child sex offenders and corrupt police officers.
This year four defendants were jailed for life for the murders of three children - two of the young victims were just babies.

Stephen Boden and Shannon Marsden murdered their 10-month-old son, who they had subjected to “unimaginable cruelty”.
Craig Crouch was convicted of the murder of his stepson Jacob Crouch, also 10 months old, subjecting him to “unimaginable cruelty”.
Jacob’s mother Gemma Crouch was jailed for 10 years, convicted of causing or allowing the death of a child and child cruelty.

5. Stephen Hastie
Hastie was jailed for ten years with a four-year extended licence period for the knife-point rape of a woman he met on dating website Plenty of Fish on Christmas Eve. Following their first date, in the early hours of 24 December 2018 at an address in Derbyshire, Hastie held a knife to the woman’s throat and raped her. 6. Liam Burke
Burke, 35, punched and strangled his estranged partner after she returned to their home to feed the cat. His former girlfriend of eight years returned to see to the animal, having left the defendant days before. 7. Michael Harrison
Michael Harrison was jailed for life with a minimum of 21 years and six months for the murder of his 11-year-old son. Harrison waited four hours to call an ambulance as son Mikey Harrison was dying after he violently beat him at the Heanor home – so that he could make it look like an accident. As his son suffered “increasing pain” from the bleed Harrison drove the boy to Shipley Country Park – to falsify an account that he had fallen from a tree. 8. Connar Shaw
Shaw, 31, was jailed for two-and-a-half years for abusing his partner for 12 years – including acid attack threats and an assault outside their Derbyshire home. His crimes came to light when police were called after an argument in a car outside their home in Killamarsh. When officers arrived at the scene they found Shaw’s partner covered in blood and with serious facial injuries. At hospital she told police she had suffered years of abuse at the hands of her partner, who had broken her jaw, strangled her and threatened to throw acid in her face so no-one else would want her.
