The police force’s rural crime team said: “Does anybody know anything about these macabre findings in a field on High Lane between Lea Moor and Upper Holloway?

“A number of animal parts have been found as if thrown over from the road. They consist of head parts of foxes, deer and badgers.

“We're completely baffled by it.

“Apologies that the picture is a bit gruesome, but it says more than words can.

“Please keep an eye out for anything odd up there.”

The force said it had found the remains of three badgers and a similar number of deer and foxes plus a ‘load’ of deer jaw bones.
