James Hackett committed the offence between October 1 to 17 last year against a woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, Chesterfield Magistrates’ Court was told on Thursday, October 8.

The victim later realised that Hackett had blocked her on social media accounts where he was exhibiting the three images, showing the woman naked from the waist up, the court heard.

The victim only found out about Hackett’s actions when she was contacted by another woman, who told her about the photos, the court heard.

Hackett, 33, of the Royal, Southgate, Eckington - who already had a police caution for revenge porn - admitted disclosing private sexual photographs with intent to cause distress when he appeared before the court.

Mitigating, John Wilford told the court Hackett is “remorseful about his behaviour.”

Sentencing Hackett to 18 weeks in prison, suspended for 18 months, District Judge Jonathan Taaffe said: “This is what’s known as revenge porn - there’s only one reason why you did this and that is to cause extreme distress, embarrassment and psychological harm.

“You set up false accounts and shared images that you knew would cause her distress with other people.

“It’s the behaviour of someone who is immature and is clearly seeking revenge and doesn’t care about the feelings of others.”

He also imposed a 12-week curfew on Hackett, as well as a three-year restraining order, and ordered him to pay £85 costs and a £128 victim surcharge.
