Driver lucky to alive after getting trapped 60ft down a Derbyshire embankment

Emergency crews attended a ‘very challenging’ call out which saw the rescue of a driver down a 60ft embankment.

The call came in last night on Friday, January 15 and police, fire and ambulance crews were all called to aid the driver.

Station Manager Marc Redford for Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service said: “Derbyshire FRS attended a very challenging road traffic collision last night, Friday January 15, near Bradbourne. The driver was trapped, 60 feet down steep embankment.

"We worked with with East Midlands Ambulance Service, Derbyshire Police, and fire crews from Ashbourne, and Wirksworth, as well as the rope rescue from Alfreton station.

Marc said after the rescue was complete the driver was lucky.

The pictures shared by Marc on his twitter account show the dramatic efforts of the various rescue crews who worked tirelessly to get the driver back to safety before been given medical attention after the fall.
