Driver learns costly lesson as tyre almost fell off on Chesterfield road

A driver has learned a costly lesson when one of the new tyres that were fitted not too long almost fell off on a Chesterfield road.

Derbyshire Road Policing Unit said the car, a Skoda, has been driven around 100 miles since the new tyres were installed.

In a tweet, they said: "Today, all five wheel nuts came off. Always worth checking the nuts yourself after a short distance. "Ouch "Expensive."

In a separate incident in Chesterfield, a driver of a Fiat who has been avoiding the police, has finally been arrested by the force.

Derbyshire police said the car failed to stop overnight in horrendous weather, but it came to a halt as he ran out of fuel.

They tweeted: “(The car) Comes to a halt only as he runs out of fuel. You may notice broken glass on the road driver refused to get out. Removed, arrested and charged. #Traffic.
