But the man who dismembered him and scattered his body parts around the town where they lived has offered to come out of prison and show police where he buried them.
In a sensational revelation at Derby Crown Court, Daniel Walsh has admitted that he cut up 71-year-old Graham Snell and scattered his remains across Chesterfield.

The 29-year-old’s pre-trial review was told how he has provided detectives with a map, showing the locations of where he believes he buried Mr Snell’s head and arms.
But that hearing was told how police have searched the locations using specially trained corpse-finding dogs and are still empty-handed.
Walsh, of Marsden Street, Chesterfield, is due to face trial for the murder of Mr Snell next month.

Clive Stockwell, Walsh’s barrister, said: “He does accept dismembering and he does accept concealing the body parts that have been so far found.
“But he does not accept he’s responsible for the death of Mr Snell.
“He has provided two maps with markings on them showing where the head and arms have been buried.

“It is a fair-sized area and Mr Walsh is confident that is where the body parts have been buried.
“I am not sure if there is the possibility he can be released from prison supervised and help pinpoint more precisely where the locations are,” Mr Stockwell told the hearing
Derbyshire police were alerted to the disappearance of Mr Snell from his Chesterfield home on June 30, 11 days after he was last seen alive.

Prosecutor Peter Joyce said told the hearing: “Since there is no dispute Mr Walsh dismembered the deceased, his defence statement should cover ‘how did he die?’ and ‘when did he die?’.
“The area where he has said he buried the head and arms is a large area of scrubland and certain parts, including the victim’s arms, were found down a badger sett.
“That area has been finger-tip searched by the police and specialist cadaver or corpse dogs have been brought in from Merseyside with no results.
“The area has already been searched.
“No head, no arms.

The trial of Walsh, who is in custody, is scheduled to begin next month
