Derbyshire teens arrested for house burglary during lockdown

Three teenagers have been arrested on suspicion of breaking into a Derbyshire home.

Police were called after a resident was disturbed on Maidwell Close in the Far Laund area of Belper at around 3.20am on Monday.

The resident had noticed three people running away from their property.

The teenagers, aged 18, 17 and 16, were arrested on suspicion of burglary and dangerous driving on Old Mansfield Road in Derby.

All three, who are from Derby, have been questioned and released on police bail while inquiries continue.

A Derbyshire Constabulary spokesperson said: “We would like to speak to anyone who may have noticed anything suspicious in the Far Laund area late on Sunday and in the early hours of Monday.

“If you have any information which you think could help with our enquiries, please get in touch on 101, quoting the reference number 2*237354 and the name of the officer in the case, DC Stuart Coutin.”
