Derbyshire police take part in operations to crack down on criminals travelling in county

Derbyshire Police’s High Peak safer neighbourhood team posted on facebook: “We have aimed our attention at travelling criminals who are using the road networks in and out of Derbyshire to commit crime.

“We have conducted four intelligence led stop searches, including two vehicles which were searched specifically for drugs. This can only continue to happen, with the fantastic information forwarded to us by High Peak residents.

W”e have carried out high visibility patrols within all areas of the High Peak, stopping vehicles, checking details and most importantly, deterring criminal activity.

“During our high visibility patrols in New Mills, a suspicious vehicle clocked that it had drawn our attention and immediately decided to evade us, driving recklessly and left at high speed. This vehicle was found to have been stolen from a local property that same evening and was swiftly recovered shortly after making off from officers. Vehicle was found abandoned on a nearby road and was seized.

“Investigations continue with this vehicle and driver.

“Although the emphasis was on preventing crime and carrying out intelligence led results, we didn’t forget our local duties too when we came across a broken down vehicle that was stuck in a dangerous position in Buxton. Traffic was managed, and road users were kept safe.

“These positive results are clear evidence of how working together is so effective in making the High Peak a safer place to live.”
