Officers from Derbyshire Roads Policing Unit told last week how they caught the occupants offering jewellery in exchange for cash on an M1 slip road in the county.

They also revealed the vehicle had been stopped illegally on the hard shouder.

But in an update last night, the unit tweeted: “A week later this Mercedes decided to revisit Derbyshire to try selling worthless jewellery.

"Reported to court again and car seized on this occasion to prevent further issues.”

Tweeting last week, Derbyshire RPU described it as “a trick that's as old as motorways themselves.”
