Derbyshire Police join campaign to ensure drivers overtake cyclists safely

The force has joined Operation Close Pass, an awareness campaign running from today (Monday, November 23) to November 29 to spot drivers who pass too closely to cyclists.
It is recommended that there should be at minimum distance of 1.5 metres between vehicles and riders and drivers which fail to comply with the rules will receive a warning from officers.

Hide AdDerbyshire Constabulary said in a tweet that they will be on the ‘lookout’ this week for motorists which are breaking the rules.
In a tweet, the force wrote: “Operation Close Pass is taking place between 23-29 November.
"@DerbyshireRPU will be on the lookout for motorists who fail to overtake cyclists at a minimum distance of 1.5 metres, or in a safe manner and will be advising cyclists on riding safely and legally. #ClosePassDerbyshire”
