Criminal serving 12-year sentence absconds from Derbyshire prison – with public warned not to approach

Officers are searching for a criminal who absconded from a Derbyshire prison – and have urged members of the public not to approach him.

Alfred Adams did not return after a period of temporary release from HMP Sudbury on Tuesday, December 13.

The 44-year-old is currently serving a 12-year sentence for burglary, theft, and intent to steal in relation to a series of attacks on cash machines – and was convicted at Leicestershire Crown Court in 2018.

Adams is described as around 5ft 7in tall and of medium build, with brown hair and blue eyes. He has a scar on his cheek and tattoos on his arms.

He has links to Wigan, Warrington, Stoke-on-Trent, Leicestershire, Newark and Essex, and it is believed he may also have connections to the travelling community.

Members of the public are asked not to approach Adams and instead contact Derbyshire Police with any information or sightings, using one of the methods below – quoting reference number 7 of December 14:
