Chesterfield paedophile moved in with woman and young daughter, court hears

David Halford-Lodge, 32, appeared before a judge today after it came to light he been living with the woman at the beginning of this year - saying he “deliberately” failed to inform police.

Halford-Lodge did not declare the new living arrangements - a condition of his 10-year sexual harm prevention order - because “he enjoyed living as a family unit”.

Prosecutor Steven Gosnell told Derby Magistrates Court pervert Halford-Lodge breached the order knowing police would not approve of the change of address.

In May this year Halford-Lodge was jailed for 26 months by Judge Shaun Smith QC.

He was jailed for committing further sex offences while serving a suspended jail term after paedophile hunters live-streamed him trying to meet up with three underage teenage girls in October last year.

Prior to meeting the decoys Halford-Lodge - believing them to be young girls - had encouraged them to touch themselves sexually - using overly sexual remarks.

He also sent them images of his private parts.

The court heard today that Halford-Lodge’s Chesterfield tenancy breach, with a woman and her young daughter, had occurred unbeknown to Judge Smith when he jailed the defendant in May this year.

However the judge ruled that, had he known of the breach at the time, it would not have resulted in a longer jail term.

Halford-Lodge, formerly of Clarendon Road, Chesterfield, admitted breaching a sexual harm prevention order and failing to comply with notification requirements of the sex offenders register.

He was handed six-month concurrent sentences for both charges.

Judge Shaun Smith QC told him: “In May I sentenced you and made strong remarks about you breaching your suspended sentence and sexual harm prevention order.

“I gave you 26 months - had I known these matters were to be brought before the court I could have sentenced you for all the matters together.

“But I don’t believe I would have gone beyond the 26 months I gave you.”

Judge Smith warned Halford-Lodge when he is released from custody on licence any further offences would result in him being returned to jail.
