Chesterfield man arrested over woman's death is released under investigation

A Chesterfield man arrested on suspicion of murder following the ‘suspicious death’ of a woman in Preston has been released under investigation.

The 26-year-old was arrested on Monday after a body was discovered at a house on Fir Trees Avenue, in the Grange area of Preston, on Sunday.

Officers attended the scene after receiving a concern for welfare report at around 11pm. The woman has since been formally identified as a 29-year-old from Preston.

On Thursday, Lancashire Police confirmed the suspect has been released under investigation pending further enquiries.

Chief Inspector Pauline Stables said: “First and foremost our thoughts are with the victim’s family and friends, who are being supported by specially-trained officers at this incredibly difficult time.

“We are now urging anybody with information about the woman’s death to get in touch with us as soon as possible on 101, quoting log number 1569 of February 15.”
