Chesterfield man admits growing more than 30 cannabis plants at his home for personal use

Steven Thaw appeared before Chesterfield Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, January 13, where he admitted the production of cannabis on May 30 last year - the date police raided his home.
Prosecuting, Becky Allsop told the court that a total of 34 plants were discovered at the home of the 50-year-old, of St David’s Rose, Walton, Chesterfield, in two separate rooms and an outbuilding.

Hide Ad“Two tents were discovered in two separate rooms in the property, and he took officers outside to a building where there were more plants,” she said.
“He said he was growing it for his own personal use and it would have lasted a year. He’d spent £5,000 on the equipment and a drugs officer said he’s happy these drugs were for personal use.”
Magistrates adjourned the case until January 27 to allow pre-sentence report to be prepared.
