Hide AdProsecuting, Lynn Bickley, said: “It was a six-inch kitchen knife. He had been moving house and the knife had fallen out of one of the boxes and he put it in the door pocket so he would remember to take it into the house - although this happened in December and the accident occurred in January.”
Mitigating, David Gittins said police only searched the vehicle because Stevens was a known drug dealer and is awaiting sentencing at crown court on narcotics charges.
He said: “What is of most significance is that, as well as the knife, police also found a fork in the door pocket. He put it in the door and forgot it was there.
“He’s awaiting sentencing on conspiracy to supply Class A drugs and they haven’t been dealt with yet due to the coronavirus, and he admits that he’s slipped back into cannabis use because he’s been bored.”
