Car crashes trying to swerve stray wheel on the M1 between Mansfield and Chesterfield

A car crashed into a motorway barrier on the M1 while swerving to avoid a stray wheel “flying across the carriageway".
Derbyshire Roads Police Unit said the “strange” accident happened after a van towing a trailer on Junction 29 between Mansfield and Chesterfield lost a wheel.
They tweeted: “Van towing a trailer, loses a wheel [...] which then goes flying across the carriageway. Renault driver swerves to avoid it and unfortunately crashes.”
No injuries were reported.
Police subsequently recovered a brake disc which had melted into the road.
