BMW seized in Derbyshire Dales after Dronfield driver claimed to be road testing vehicle at 1.20am

Officers recovered a BMW which was caught ‘cruising around’ the Derbyshire Dales with passengers from Dronfield in the early hours of this morning.

The men who were stopped by Derbyshire Constabulary’s Dales Response Team and the county’s Armed Response Unit claimed to be road testing the car at 1.20am in the morning (March 25).

It is believed the occupants travelled from Dronfield outside their local area to the Dales to ‘cruise’ around, until their journey was cut short.

The driver of the BMW was found to have no valid insurance and the vehicle was seized by officers.

In a tweet showing a picture of the car with a blurred out registration plate, the Dales Response team wrote: “Two Dales. BMW cruising around with two chaps from Dronfield. Stopped with @DerbyshireARU. Road testing at 1.20am? Something doesn’t sit right. Further checks uncover vehicle showing no insurance so seized. #OpDerbyshire #Seized”.

Social media user Andy Wood jokingly commented: “The long walk home?”.
