Appeal after robber snatched an elderly woman's purse out of her bag in Chesterfield

Police are appealing for witnesses after a 74-year-old woman’s purse was snatched out of her bag in Chesterfield last month.

The elderly woman was walking along Rose Hill when she was approached from behind by a man who reached into her bag and took her purse at about 11.15am on Wednesday, September 23.

He then ran off down Soresby Street towards the Market Place.

The 74-year-old described the robber as white, very slim and in his early 20s, with short, dark hair, a pointy nose, and wore a navy blue jacket and dark trousers.

Officers are urging witnesses who saw the robbery to contact them by calling 101 and quoting reference number 20*500506.
