Cops take to the road to teach about home security

Officers are hitting the road to chat to Dales people about home security.

A mobile police station will be taking Operation Illuminate to residents in Wirksworth and Matlock.

The team will offer crime prevention advice and speak to residents about the simple steps that they can take to protect themselves from burglars during the winter months.

Sergeant Adam Bryan, who leads Matlock Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “We wanted to let people know in advance about the upcoming Operation Illuminate events, as it is a great opportunity for residents to chat to the officers about crime prevention advice.”

The annual drive is lead by Derbyshire Dales Community Safety Partnership. Chairman of the partnership and leader of Derbyshire Dales District Council, Councillor Lewis Rose, said: “It is thanks to proactive campaigns such as Illuminate that we maintain the proud reputation of the Dales as one of the safest places in the UK to live, work and visit.”

The team will be heading to Matlock on November 6 and Wirksworth on November 18 in popular locations.
