UKIP beat the Lib Dems into fourth place in the swing constituency with 7,792 votes to 1,658. The Green Party came a close fifth with 1,184.

The new Erewash MP said she was ‘over the moon with the decision’ and repeated her commitment to getting a train station for Ilkeston and to bringing HS2 to the East Midlands.

Jessica Lee (left) was elected to Parliament in the 2010 General Election, and was made Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Attorney General, but announced her decision to step down last year.
