Community workshop group Hollingwood Sheds unveils display for Remembrance Day
Hollingwood Sheds help bring the community together for the important occasion.
A striking new display of poppies, crosses and a silhouette of a Lancaster bomber has been unveiled in Hollingwood, thanks to the creativity and hard work of a community group.
Hollingwood Sheds created the fitting tribute for the Remembrance commemorations which will be held at Hollingwood Community Room on November 8. A service will start at 10.30am and there will be wreath laying, readings and poems and an exhibition of memorabilia. Free refreshments will be served, and a collection will be held for the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.

The event organisers, Hollingwood Residents Association, have expressed thanks to Hollingwood Sheds for helping to bring the community together for an important occasion.

A workshop for men and women, Hollingwood Sheds was set up in 2023 and helps people to make new friends, have fun, fix items and create things. It operates from temporary premises in containers adjacent to Barrow Hill Memorial Hall. A planning application has been submitted to Chesterfield Borough Council seeking consent to erect a single storey building on land between Private Drive and Station Road, Hollingwood which would give the community group a permanent home.
