COLUMN: Plenty to do at the Proact this Christmas

Now we head into winter, our indoor activities become more of a focus for the trust. You don’t get much of a break at a football stadium so The Hub is open every day except for Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.

As it gets cold and wet outside, Chester’s Den becomes the perfect place to play or to get everyone together for a party. Our facilities mean that a whole range of parties can be undertaken including ones based around football and other sports, dance, martial arts or animal petting.

There will be one extra special guest from December 10-12 when Santa Claus is popping in to ask our youngsters about what they want under the tree on Christmas Day. Our famous visitor was very busy last year so let us know if you are coming to see him. Every week in December it will be a ‘Festive Friday’ when we expect everyone to don their best (or more suitably their worst) Christmasjumpers. This is the perfect apparel to try out our special mince pies! With prizes to be won.

However, at the Trust we are conscious that a few too many mince pies might be consumed over the next month. So after Christmas, or before if you are particularly good little boys and girls, try out our gym or book in for a session in the hydrotherapy pool.

There are also several fitness sessions available and we will soon have Slimming World classes starting in The Hub.

Finally, if you are looking for a last-minute present or just want to try out Christmas treats and sing a few carols, then our first ever Family Christmas Fayre is on December 18.

In partnership with Life House Church and starting from 5pm, in and around The Hub there will be all sorts of stalls and attractions as well as carol singing in the Memorial Garden.

If you are especially proud of you best (or worst) Christmas jumper and can’t stop wearing it, put it on, come down to our market and join in the fun!

Proceeds from the evening goes towards our activities for people with disabilities.

I hope to see you there or at one of our other activities over Christmas or into 2015.
