Church volunteer Florence celebrates landmark 100th birthday
A church volunteer and school pianist has celebrated her landmark 100th birthday.
Florence Chettle, a resident at Barnfield Care Home in Chesterfield, received a card from the Queen and enjoyed a party organised by the care home including an entertainer, buffet and birthday cake.
Florence, a devout Methodist, who until last month was still living independently, has three children, eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren who live in Canada, America and Australia, as well as the UK.
Alison Riley, home manager at Barnfield Care Home, on Heath Road, said: “Florence hasn’t been with us long but she became a part of the Barnfield family from day one.”
