Mr Frayne, 47, formerly of Etwall, appeared at Derby Crown Court on Monday, April 14, and his trial was fixed for November 10.

It is alleged that he raped a woman in Etwall between November 30, 2006, and January 1, 2007.

The trial is expected to last between two and three days. Mr Frayne will next appear for a plea and case management hearing on June 5.

He was released on bail on the condition he does not contact the complainant or another named person and that Mr Frayne resides at his new home address of Spinneyfield, Huddersfield.

The fire service has said Mr Frayne has been suspended from his post. A fire service spokesman said deputy chief fire officer Andy Waldie and deputy chief executive Joy Smith are covering the chief fire officer and chief executive responsibilities.
