Chesterfield Specsavers team continue fundraising for Ashgate Hospice in tribute to care of colleague's dad
‘We love being a part of the community. Anything we can get involved in, we will always do our best to support.’
Super fundraisers at Chesterfield Specsavers, where £17,000 has been donated to Ashgate Hospice over the years, are continuing to collect money for end of life care at a poignant time for their team.
Store director Allissa Charlesworth’s dad, Ady Howard, was being cared for at Ashgate Hospice but sadly passed away on October 25 after experiencing the compassion and exceptional care for which the hospice is renowned.
Ady was a well-known and much-loved figure in Chesterfield’s sporting community making the hospice’s support of him and his family especially meaningful for the Specsavers team.
Marie Clifford, who is store manager, has organised a raffle which is running at Chesterfield Specsavers during October. Marie is a passionate supporter of Ashgate Hospice, with her mum and best friend both receiving wonderful care there.
The fundraising efforts will continue into December, when Marie’s family friend, Jack Parsons, will take part in a boxing event at the Speedwell Rooms in Staveley, with all money raised going to the hospice.
Specsavers colleagues are supporting the hospice’s pink month by wearing clothes and accessories in the appropriate colour.
Team member Adam Matthews said: “We love being a part of the community. And anything that we can get involved in, we will always do our best to support. So when I spotted that Ashgate were turning pink for October, we had to get involved.”
Over the years, the fantastic fundraisers have taken part in a host of money-spinning activities for the hospice include a 26-mile walk, a spinathon, bake sales and Ashgate Hospice’s annual Sparkle Night Walk.
