“I did okay. It was a long day but I really enjoyed it.”
Lud, who has two daughters and two grandchildren, applied for the show which received 10,000 applications.
After he was successful in the initial process, he then had to complete six different challenges and have an interview.
“When I found out I had got through I was really happy because at the end of the day you do not know how you have done,” Lud said. “My family were really excited and 27 of them came along in the end.”

He said: “When I did Gladiators I was petrified and I froze. This time I just got out there and did what I had to do.”
Lud did not make it through to the next round this time but he ‘had a good go’ and did his family proud.
He is now urging others to not let age stop them from achieving their goals.
“It’s important to have goals whatever your age and to not give up,” he added.
