Chesterfield flood warning latest
Flood warnings remain in place for Chesterfield this morning, though watchdogs say high river levels are now falling.
The Environment Agency issued an amber warning, meaning that flooding is possible, in Chesterfield yesterday afternoon and the alert is still in place.
A statement on their website posted early this morning says: “The River Rother has been steadily falling through Chesterfield since the intense rainfall on Monday afternoon led to very high levels.
“Levels have now fallen significantly on the River Hipper and River Whitting.
“The rivers in the area will remain relatively high overnight, and may respond temporarily to further showers tonight and into Tuesday day time, but we do not anticipate issuing any further flood warnings. We are not currently expecting any further significant rainfall for the next few days.
