The court heard Dobson discovered her partner’s infidelity and went to the address where he was house-sitting on Common Road, in Huthwaite, on June 24.

Rod Chapman, prosecuting, said: “A neighbour saw a woman sitting on the roof of an Audi.

“All of the car glass, save for the windscreen, had been smashed with a bottle, taken from a recycling bin nearby.

“Miss Dobson went for her ex-partner and bit him on the arm.”

When interviewed by police she admitted causing the damage, but denied assaulting him.

“She alleges that he threw her to the road and got her in a headlock, and that’s why she bit him. She feels she was acting in self-defence.”

The victim’s impact statement said: “She sank her teeth into my right arm so I pushed her off. She ran at me again. I ran into the house and locked the door.”

Her victim claimed to have suffered emotional stress and estimated the car repairs would cost £1,000.

Zahra Hussain, mitigating, said: “She has been out of trouble for 14 years and has no violent convictions. This incident is out of character.

“She found her partner had been cheating on her. To make matters worse he was cheating with his step-daughter.

“She tells me she was angry and upset and saw red.”

Ms Hussain said Dobson suffered a breakdown after the event and suffered from depression.

“As far as she is concerned she dealt with the matter in her own way and doesn’t wish to have him in her life,” added Ms Hussain.

Magistrates ordered her to pay £300 compensation to her ex-partner.
