Busy Derbyshire road near M1 closed 'for some time' after two car collision

A major Derbyshire road will remain closed ‘for some time’ according to police, after two cars crashed on the busy road in the early hours of this morning.

Officers have closed A6135 Station Road in both directions following a two vehicle accident between B6419 Hague Lane (Renishaw) and B6053 Staveley Lane (Eckington).

Police, who are urging motorists to avoid the area, were called to the scene at just before 5.40am this morning (Wednesday, October 7).

The road has been closed this morning, causing disruption for commuters and the force has advised the A6135 will remain closed for some time as officers investigate what happened.

The 73 Stagecoach bus will not be serving Eckington Bus Station today following the crash and the service will be diverted until further notice.

In a tweet, the bus operator said: “#SHEFFBUS Due to a serious RTC at Staion Rd Renishaw Service 73 will not be serving Eckington Bus Station

@07:33. and will be diverted until further notice.”
