Bus company praised for apprentice commitment

Work and Pensions Secretary Iain Duncan Smith praised Langley Mill-based bus company Trent Barton during a visit to Amber Valley at the weekend.

The Conservative politician met with managing director Jeff Counsell and viewed the work of two young apprentices - Scott Hutchinson and Corey Desborough.

He told the Ripley and Heanor News: “The highlight of the visit was seeing the work of Scott and Corey who are learning some valuable skills and I hope both will have a long and healthy career in engineering.”

The depot was first built in the 1930s and operates as a maintenance engineering centre for 70 vehicles. More than 200 Trent Barton staff work from the site.

The Tory front-bencher was in the area to support Conservative candidate Nigel Mills.
