A 67-year-old man has died after a crash on the A6 this afternoon.

The collision occurred at around 12.10pm at Whatstandwell when a car travelling towards Ambergate collided with a Scania lorry travelling towards Cromford.

Sadly, as a result, the 67-year-old male driver of the car suffered fatal injuries.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who saw any vehicles that may have been involved to contact them, quoting incident number 496-01/11/16, by calling 101 and asking for the Collision Investigation Unit.
