Boozy driver’s 40 month ban

A drink-driver was caught after police spotted his vehicle and discovered it was not insured.

Chesterfield magistrates’ court heard on Friday, May 23, how Mark Else, of Talbot Crescent, Hasland, Chesterfield, had been followed by police who discovered his vehicle was not insured as they carried out checks.

The vehicle was stopped, according to prosecuting solicitor Sarah Haslam, on Chatsworth Road, Chesterfield, and Else provided a breath specimen at the police station which confirmed he had exceeded the alcohol drink-drive limit.

Else pleaded guilty to exceeding the alcohol drink-drive limit and having no insurance after the incident on April 23. Denny Lau, defending, said Else’s father had died recently and Else drinks when he is depressed. Magistrates fined Else £110 and ordered him to pay a £20 victim surcharge and £85 costs. He was also disqualified from driving for 40 months.
