Body found in Derbyshire canal

Police have been called to a canal in Derbyshire after a passer-by said they found a body.

There is currently a scene in place at the Erewash Canal off Nottingham Road in Ilkeston.

A Derbyshire Constabulary spokesperson said: “We were called at 5.45am this morning to report that a passer-by had found a body in the canal.

“Officers remain in the area and an investigation is underway to determine the circumstances of the incident.”
