A dog–owner has been left broken–hearted after night time raiders stole his pet Labrador.

The four–year–old female dog, named Meg, was taken from Millfields Farm, in Kirk Ireton, on the night of Thursday, October 3.

In the same raid, a large quantity of machinery was taken including a quad bike, chainsaw, two lawn mowers, a hedge trimmer, leaf blower and drill.

Meg’s owner Kevin Hallas, of Derby, was staying at the farm on the night of the break–in and discovered his beloved pet missing the next morning.

The 62–year–old said the dog must have been taken because she was very loyal and would not have run away.

The farm owner, David Green, said this was not the first time the premises has been targeted by criminals – it was broken into in June this year and machinery was stolen.

Anyone with information about the theft is asked to contact Derbyshire police on 101.

Alternatively, people can call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
