Ashley Orwin, who lives on Chigwell Way, says he came home last Sunday to find his one-year-old cat, Nala, limping badly.

After taking her to the vet the next day, he was told her injuries were caused by someone kicking her or being hit by a blunt object.

He said: “I am absolutely disgusted - I would never dream of doing anything like that to an animal.

“I’ve not reported it to the police - they’d have nothing to go on. I just thank god I’m about to leave the area.”

Ashley says he cannot afford pay the £1,000 vets bill and is now appealing to members of the public to help him fund Nala’s care.

On the fundraising page he has set up, Ashley says: “Nala is a sweetheart who only turned one last week - to see her in pain is heartbreaking and is tearing me apart.

“She is not just a cat to me, she is my family. If anyone can help us by donating anything it would be much appreciated.”

To make matters worse, the break was so high on Nala’s femur that the vet was unable to set it.

It means she must have six weeks of cage rest followed by more x-rays to check the break is healing correctly.

However, despite being ‘shy and timid’ in the days immediately after the attack, Ashley says Nala is now getting ‘better and better’ each day.
