Barlborough NHS centre welcome a new hospital director

Born and bred Chesterfield man Steve Booker has been appointed as the new hospital director for Barlborough NHS Treatment Centre.

Steve, who is married with three children, joined the centre as it opened ten years ago and he has been involved in managing the finances of the centre, in Lindrick Way, ever since.

Steve, who previously worked for the international accountancy firm Deloitte, said: “I am very happy to be appointed as Hospital Director of the centre at such an exciting time in its history.

“When I first joined, the treatment centre was a new concept and as a result we were very much on the periphery of things but, ten years down the line, we are now fully integrated into the local healthcare provision in Derbyshire, South Yorkshire, Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire.

“We have strong working relationships with the local Trusts and CCGs, providing an excellent service to patients throughout the region.

“In the spring we will be opening our new £1.4m operating theatre that will boost the number of joint replacement operations by a third and we are also looking to add other services to the centre, which has specialised exclusively in orthopaedic surgery.”

The centre carries out around 4,000 orthopaedic operations each year and it employs more than 200 people.
