Bakewell: Kids meet ‘dinosaurs’

Youngsters will be able to get up close and personal with modern–day dinosaurs when a TV presenter visits a Bakewell school.

Zoologist James McKay will be taking a selection of reptiles to St Anselm’s School, Bakewell, on Monday, February 4, where he will present lessons to link in with the school’s work on dinosaurs.

The animals at the school will feature several lizards, including the extremely rare Kimberley Rock Monitor (Varanus glauerti), and gigantic Indonesian blue-tongued skink (Tiliqua gigas), as well as other animals.

James has appeared on shows such as AutumnWatch and Blue Peter.

He said: “I believe that children’s education can be enhanced by the proper use of live animals.”
