Bakewell: Christmas sparkle at tree festival

School pupils, church groups, businesses and community organisations have worked to put a little sparkle into a festive church display.

The Christmas Tree Festival at Bakewell Parish Church, in South Church Street, started last week and the trees will be on display until Sunday.

The groups have decorated each of the trees in a unique style, featuring traditional displays and some handmade ornaments.

The festival is open daily 10am to 5pm, barring Sundays when it opens at noon.

There will be late night opening until 8.30pm on Thursday and visitors will be able to enjoy a glass of mulled wine or fruit juice.

A community carol service will mark the close of the event 6pm on Sunday.

For the duration of the event the church’s Open Door café will be welcoming visitors from 11am to 4pm serving coffee, tea, light lunches and afternoon teas.

Entry to the Christmas Tree Festival is free however donations to the church’s repair fund will be welcomed.
