Ashover Show wows crowds

A picturesque north Derbyshire village is once again putting on a spectacle to remember.

Thousands of country fair revellers are savouring the sights, sounds and smells of traditional rural life at Ashover Show today.

Now in its 83rd year, the much-loved event – which has become Derbyshire’s premier one-day show – will feature dozens of horticultural, livestock and agricultural competitions with entries from across the region as well as dog shows, vintage cars and craft displays.

Spokesman Hugh Meredith said: “We are proud to offer a traditional country show which has something to entertain every member of the family.

“As much as the world has progressed since 1924, Ashover Show remains as one of the most popular agricultural events in the country and enjoys tremendous loyalty and support from its members, supporters and visitors.

“There are always so many highlights and we intend to continue to offer outstanding value and a full day’s entertainment for many years to come,” he added.
