Hayfield residents turned out in force for a public meeting about proposed amendments to the High Peak Local Plan, which could see a green belt site in the village lost to housing.

Around 200 people attended the meeting, held last Wednesday at the Royal Hotel, as well as two representatives from High Peak Borough Council.

It was the second meeting about the local plan amendment, which could see a site on Kinder Road being developed if it is deemed to not meet the criteria for green belt land.

Locals fear that any loss of green belt could have a detrimental effect on the village’s economy.
