The event, held at Bakewell Agricultural Showground, attracts thousands of visitors from far and wide and takes place today and tomorrow.

Show manager Janet Bailey said: “We have made some exciting changes and hope that all the hard work we have put in during the year and our efforts to keep the show fresh and relevant in today’s world will make this 185th event one of the best.”

The event will feature all the usual agricultural classes and exhibits, alongside plenty of other attractions and fun for all the family.

The agricultural spectacular will feature a variety of animal contests, show jumping displays, vintage motorbikes, trade stands and more.

Medieval jousting stunt team The Knights of the Damned are the centre ring attraction and will perform a display based on the hit film A Knight’s Tale.

For the first time, the show will also have its own farmers’ market selling a selection of artisan bread, eggs, and more. And the ever-popular beach experience is also back for 2015.

Janet added: “Our Wye Valley showground has been revamped so that visitors can get around more easily.

“Following the merger of members and patrons of the show last year, entertainment facilities have been switched to the other side of the centre ring where the new marquee will serve not only traditional hot meals and afternoon teas, but also lighter bites for those not wanting full catering.

“The space we have freed-up will make room for more trade stands, food courts and seating for the general public.”
