REVIEW: Ox Pasture Hall Hotel

With its quiet country setting, the hotel seems a world away from all the excitement of the seaside, yet is only a short drive or pleasant walk away from the bustling town of Scarborough.

The bar area has a rustic charm and boasts a large fireplace. It’s here that my husband and I enjoy afternoon tea featuring a variety of mouthwatering cakes and sandwiches, washed down with a much-appreciated brew.

Our luxury suite, accessed by stairs off a central courtyard, has its own seating area, high end bathroom and not one but two bedrooms, which are set out in an open plan layout. Furnished to a high standard with chunky wood furniture, the windows of the spacious suite overlook fields.

The bathroom is one of the best I have ever seen in a hotel room with a huge double-ended bath, walk-in shower and twin sinks, finished off in a natural stone tile.

The room is so comfortable it’s a shame not to stay in it all evening, however living in land-locked Derbyshire I feel the need to make the most of the hotel’s proximity to the coast, so we head into Scarborough for the afternoon.

Upon returning to the hotel, we head to the on site Courtyard restaurant where I enjoy an evening meal of minestrone soup with fresh bread, followed by pork belly with sauteed potatoes and black pudding, finishing with a selection of Yorkshire cheeses - all courses are delicious and served in good time by the friendly waiting staff.

In the morning we enjoy a hearty full English breakfast before heading back on the road, sad that our mini Yorkshire break has come to an end.
