Take That! How Isy Suttie caught pin-up Howard Donald's attention

“I think Matlock is an incredible and beautiful place and I still feel very attached to it,” she said. “ When I come back, it feels like I’ve come home.”

Isy will put something back into the community when she performs at Matlock Bath’s Pavilion on Friday, February 19 to plug her first book.

She said: “Any proceeds I make from ticket sales are going to the Pavilion fund to help restore it as I just love the building and thought it would be a nice way to end the tour.”

Her book, entitled The Actual One, offers an insight into her earlier life in Matlock as did her 2014 series for Radio 4, Isy Suttie’s Love Letters.

Isy said: “There are a good few flashbacks - throwing a pound coin at Howard Donald’s head when Take That played in Matlock Bath Pavilion Gardens in the early Nineties and the time my Mum decided to write my internet dating profile for me.

“I went to Highfields School and I loved writing and drama. I had a very funny English teacher called Ms Gill who I can still remember.”

While The Actual One is Isy’s first published book, she made a stab at writing literature while living in Matlock. “I did start to write a romantic novel called Menage a Truth, Lies and Revenge as a teenager but I’m happy to say I never finished it,” she said. “I’ve put the beginning of it in the book tour show.”

Relationships and friendships feature in the book. Isy said: “I felt very strongly that I wanted to write about my late twenties when I had a bit of an “All my mates are getting married and having kids and I’m single” crisis and I thought it could be quite funny to write about.”

She is happily settled with comedian Elis James and their baby daughter Beti in south London.

Isy is best known as Dobby in telly’s Peep Show, which ended its run last year. She said: “I’m very proud and honoured to have been part of such a brilliant show.”
