Sporty mascot’s new name appeal

A newly-launched community sports group is appealing for kids to help them name their new mascot and win a BMX as Derbyshire is gripped by Tour de France fever.

Synergy Sports Academy, of Millennium Way, Chesterfield, is encouraging youngsters to take up physical activity by teaming up with schools and businesses.

The group - made up of former Chesterfield FC players and staff including Andy Morris - boasts a lion mascot and after teaming up with JE James Cycles they are appealing for kids to submit potential names and the chosen winner will get a top BMX bike from the cycle store.

Academy spokesman Andy said: “We want to get as many youngsters and people as possible into sport and hope to team up with schools to help keep kids healthy.”
