If you’re planning a day trip this autumn, these towns and villages are among the best places to visit for an authentic Peak District experience.
The spots you need to explore over the coming weeks are listed below – is there anywhere else that you think we should have included?

20. Grindleford
Grindleford is perfect for anyone wanting to combine stunning scenery and fascinating history. Walkers can follow Padley Gorge up onto the moors, before taking in the scenery at Surprise View and looping back round to Grindleford Station. The walk can also be combined with a visit to Padley Chapel, a Grade I listed building located at the site where the ‘Padley Martyrs’ - two Catholic priests who were executed for treason - were discovered in 1588.
