Derbyshire and the Peak District are home to a number of remarkable spots that are perfect to visit over the coming weeks.
We have compiled a list of 10 spots that you cannot miss if you find yourself in the area this autumn – is there anywhere else that you think should be featured?

1. Chatsworth House
The magnificent Chatsworth House is one of the county’s most popular attractions. Construction started on the stately home, as it currently stands, back in 1687 - but Bess of Hardwick began to build the first house on the site in 1552. Chatsworth House has also been used in a number of TV shows and films. From Pride and Prejudice to Peaky Blinders, Chatsworth has continued to grace our screens over the years - and it is a must-visit over the autumn months. Photo: Brian Eyre

2. Castleton
Castleton is one of the most popular villages to visit in the Peak District, and it isn't hard to see why. It offers easy access to scenic walking routes, including Mam Tor and Winnats Pass - and is also home to a number of remarkable show caverns. Blue John Cavern and Treak Cliff Cavern are the only places where the rare mineral Blue John can be found, while Speedwell Cavern offers unique boat tours. The Peak Cavern can be found deep in the gorge below Peveril Castle at Castleton - and is known colloquially as the Devil’s Arse. The cavern regularly hosts concerts, and an evening of carols even takes place in the run up to Christmas. Photo: jason chadwick

4. Bakewell
Bakewell is home to the Rutland Arms, once acclaimed as ‘Derbyshire’s most famous inn’, which was built in 1804 - and can count Charles Dickens among its famous visitors over the years. It is also believed that Jane Austen wrote the literary classic 'Pride & Prejudice' whilst staying at The Rutland Arms - taking inspiration from the beauty of the Peak District. Today, Bakewell is one of the most popular tourist hotspots across the Peak District - with plenty of places to shop, eat and drink. The town is also the birthplace of the Bakewell Pudding - and there are few better places to sample this sweet treat than The Old Original Bakewell Pudding Shop. Photo: Anne Shelley
