The Peak District is home to a number of remarkable places, and as someone who lives on the edge of the national park and has spent plenty of time exploring the area, these are some of the very best to visit.
The list of spots that you need to explore over the autumn months can be found below – is there anywhere else that you think should be included?

9. Stanage Edge
This Peak District viewpoint is popular with climbers - offering a spectacular vista over the area. Photo: Marisa Cashill

10. Edale
Edale is another picturesque village that is among the very best that I’ve visited across the Peak District - with great access to some of the national park’s most stunning countryside. Photo: Brian Eyre

11. Peveril Castle and the ‘Devil’s Arse’
The Peak Cavern can be found deep in the gorge below Peveril Castle at Castleton - and is known colloquially as the Devil’s Arse. The cavern regularly hosts concerts, and an evening of carols even takes place in the run up to Christmas. Photo: jason chadwick

12. Derwent Dam and Ladybower Reservoir
The RAF's 617 Squadron, who carried out the famous ‘Dambusters Raid’ on the Ruhr Valley in 1943, trained for their mission in the skies over the Derwent Dam. The scenic walk around Ladybower Reservoir is one of my favourites across the Peak District, and the circular route passes by the Derwent Dam - so you can take in the stunning sight of the water cascading over the top of the dam.
