Take a look inside this ‘impressive’ Derbyshire home worth almost £1m – it has character, luxury modern additions and an annex

A luxurious Old Vicarage which has been improved over the last few years by its current owner has gone up for sale – and it’s worth almost £1m.

The five bedroom house on Church Street, Denby Village is an “imposing”, detached, brick-built property, dating back to 1904.

And, it enjoys “fantastic rural views” of the surrounding countryside and neighbouring church, St Mary the Virgin's Church.

It goes above a typical family home by having a laundry room, boot room and two-storey annex. Not to mention the unique modern fireplace in the living room and double shower en-suite and dressing room for the master bedroom.

The current owner of the property, which is being marketed by Fine & Country for offers in excess of £950,000, said: “When we first viewed The Old Vicarage, we were immediately

impressed by the beautiful frontage. It’s an interesting building that is full of history and originality. We also liked the feeling of privacy and sense of security as the house is situated behind a gated entrance.

“The Old Vicarage has been much improved over the last few years by the previous owners and ourselves and the work has been completed to the highest standard. We were keen to preserve the original features, including the beautiful archways in the entrance hall, yet it’s been finished off with a modern touch. I think the biggest enhancement has taken place in the living room as we changed the layout to incorporate a new chimney and fireplace fitted by Robeys of Belper which is a real feature of the room.

“We enjoy spending time outdoors and the fully enclosed garden is perfect for children and dogs. The patio area is ideal for entertaining and family BBQs or relaxing on the sun loungers with a good book. We’re surrounded by beautiful countryside, so there’s always something of interest to catch our eye, including squirrels and a huge variety of birds.

“The location is great too. It’s very quiet and peaceful yet we also benefit from easy access to local amenities. Belper is a lovely little market town that has a good choice of shops and restaurants or there is an even wider choice in Derby which is just a short drive away.

“The house and garden are made for entertaining. The kitchen is the heart of the home and it’s a very sociable room where we tend to spend most of our time. The roof lantern floods the room with natural light and we always enjoy dining in the cosy little nook. Double doors lead out to the garden which creates a large space that is ideal for parties and we often use the guesthouse as a bar. We hosted a housewarming party for around 30 friends and family, but we could easily accommodate well over 50 guests if required.”
